How much does tap repair cost in Hull?
Replacing a tap washer costs £60 to £90. Replacing a ceramic disc cartridge costs £80 to £120. If the tap itself is cracked or beyond repair, a new tap costs £100 to £200 fitted. We'll quote you before we start.
How long does a tap or toilet repair take?
Most repairs take 30 minutes to an hour. Changing a washer or cartridge is quick. Fitting a new tap or replacing a full cistern mechanism might take an hour. If we need to isolate awkward pipework or work in tight spaces, add a bit longer.
Why does my toilet keep running?
Usually the fill valve (ballvalve) isn't shutting off properly, or the flush valve at the bottom of the cistern is leaking. Both are easy fixes. We'll replace whichever part is faulty. A running toilet can waste 200+ litres a day, so it's worth fixing quickly.
Can you replace just the toilet seat?
Yes, toilet seats are a quick swap. We carry a few common sizes on the van. If yours is an odd shape or size, we can measure it and come back with the right one. Costs £40 to £80 depending on the seat you want.
Do you install new taps and toilets?
Yes, we install taps (kitchen, bathroom, bath, shower), toilets, sinks, and basins. We don't do full bathroom refits, but we'll swap out individual fixtures. New tap fitted costs £100 to £180. New toilet fitted costs £150 to £300 depending on the model.
What if the tap is still dripping after you've fixed it?
If it's still dripping after we've replaced the washer or cartridge, the tap seat might be scored or damaged. We can re-seat it with a special tool, or if it's too far gone, we'd recommend replacing the tap. We won't charge you twice for the same fault.
Can you stop a toilet wobbling?
Yes, a wobbling toilet usually means the pan isn't secured to the floor properly, or the floor underneath has rotted (common in older properties with wooden floors). We'll tighten or replace the fixing bolts. If the floor's bad, we'll advise you to get it repaired first.
Can you replace mixer taps with separate hot and cold taps?
Yes, but it's more work than a straight swap. We'll need to re-route the hot and cold pipes to match the new tap positions, which might mean drilling new holes in the sink or basin. If the existing mixer tap holes are in the wrong positions, we might need to plug them or fit a blanking plate. Costs more than a like-for-like replacement.
